It’s important to adapt to your new platform with your makeup, as your makeup needs for on screen are different than that of on stage, but nonetheless intentional.
Follow these 5 tips with your team makeup this season for any virtual performances:
- Soften — Up close filming does just that, provides an up close look. So we don’t want to exaggerate your makeup as much as you would for the stage. Instead try softening and lessen the application slightly. Ensure your blush is blended in and you don’t have any harsh edges with your eye makeup (those things don’t matter so much on stage!). But don’t skip the foundation, that’s an important piece of your base look.
- Focus on key features — keep it simple and focus on key features of your face. We suggest a good set of lashes, a clean cat eye, bold lip and blush and/or bronzer. Pro tip: use white liner in the bottom lash line to open your eyes up even further!
- Cohesive makeup look — you want to keep your team looking professional and unified. Make sure your team knows what colours and products they need to achieve your team makeup look!
- Set the look with Setting Spray — now that your makeup look is seen a bit more up close, it’s important to set it with setting spray. This way it’s much less likely to smudge or drip away from sweat. This should always be a staple in a performance bag, but certainly a must-have this year.
- Have fun + be creative — a main part of your performance is the finishing touch of your makeup, so just because some shows may be virtual this season you can still see your piece come to life! Add a coloured glitter to the eyelid, a unique lip colour or a geometric liner look. The possibilities are endless and why not continue to let your creativity soar this year?
